How does compression gel things together?
Exactly that question. I have used compressors before but I am not sure how you are supposed to use them to gel all the sounds together.
What people are mainly referring to is when you compress multiple tracks at once with the same compressor, so it gives all the tracks the same relative volume and dynamic range plus it colours and helps it sound more coherent.
