how to create multi mode “panel” with traktor and launchpad

Hey guys !

Im mapping my launchpad and I was wondering how to create a multi mode panel with traktor. I would like to be able to open several modes as it is possible with ableton (mixer/user1/user2), but when linked to traktor pro 2.

I’ve been searching for it around but I cannot figure it out..

Any clue would be nice lads

Thx both of you I’m gonna dig that

have a nice day boys

Pretty nice

I’ve been mapping all the commands for my Bank1, adding a condition M1=1 (I started all over again with your tsi file)

When I switch to Bank2, the commands from Bank1 don’t work (so far so good), but the lights still remain.

Example;

Bank1: cue (in) M1=1
cue (out) / midi range 95/95 /// M1=1

Bank2: only browser on (in) M1=2
only browser on (out) / midi range 3/124 /// M1=2

When I press Bank2 the browser button lights up and works perfectly. When I switch back to bank1 the browser button is still there lighten up although uneffective.

Can’t figure what I’ve been doing wrong

Hey,
What controller you have been mapping this to?
In some cases (xone K2, Livid controls, Akai APC etc) controller can’t properly refresh the midi output. That’s why NI has added the Send Monitor State command (can be found under “Global”).

Try mapping this commands to your bank buttons and see what happens.

Edit:
It’s Launchpad I see

re sir, ty for your input

I’m using a launchpad indeed. By the way I just did the same kind of mapping for my Livid cntrl r, to check if the issue was the LPad, but I got the exact same problem. The send monitor state command doesnt fix it, neither on the LP neither on the cntrlr.

I’ll run a battery of new tests in a couple days, I need days off mapping to avoid both machines ending up flying through the window

I’d be glad to help you in further.
Please attach your CNTRL:R TSI for me to test!

you should also check out Midi Katapult since it handles the switching of pages, makes it simpler to setup led colours and has virtual devices like faders et u can quickly map to a row of pads.

Thanks !

I still cannot find where is the error.mapping DJTT.tsi (1.82 MB)

Pretty much everything is still under construction but you got the idea. Ill post in your dedicated topic regarding the rmx 1000

Have a nice day!

I’ve check your CNTRL:R file and saw a three modifiers dedicated for banks. Instead there should be just one modifier set to toggle a three different values in each button.

Bank 1) M1=0
Bank 2) M1=1
Bank 3) M1=2

Here you go: mapping DJTT 0.1.zip (102 KB)

Hi Stewe thx for your help !

Btw this was a test on the cntrl:r, but on the launchpad it was mapped this way from the beginning, and still I cannot make it work properly with the lights. Driving me nuts

I don’t know about Launchpad but perhaps there is a possibility that pads are set in toggle mode or something?

What happens when you try to switch banks by using modifiers and Launchpad?

Hi !

Still the same as the first posts, changing bank is working, the commands go on or off depending on how I mapped them on the different banks. But the LED feedback is wrong because not taking into account the bank change..

I mapped a fast & simple example for your cntrlr, it is the same kind of mapping I use on the launchpad and the problem is the same aswell

In the test;

-“unit on” & “play” should light up when m1=0 and turn off when m1 is switched from m1=0 to m1=1
-“cue” & “cup play” should light up when m1=1 and turn off when m1 is switched from m1=1 to m1=0

Bregs

there’s no toggle mode etc on launchpad pads - unless possibly if youre using automap but ive never used it. youre just using the launchpad connecting directly to traktor yep? i know a fair amount about the launchpad midi implementation and can have a debug if you can attach your demo/test tsi. the attachment from your last post isnt working for me.

fyi i always send a midi value of 4 (not 0) to turn off any launchpad led since that clears the current led and also the copy bit - it switches between 2 banks of values several times a second which is how you can have blinking leds on it. heres the colour values i use.

Hey

About automap, I installed it on my computer to use ableton live. Then I got traktor but I don’t remember how went the configuration; if they asked me if I wanna use automap or whatever.
I just open Trakor and launch my cfg, I don’t launch automap.

Here you go for the tsi file (the last one I posted is for a Livid CNTLR:R)
mapping LPAD.tsi (1.19 MB)

Ok thanks for the tip I’ll dig that !

Have a nice day

Boys I just realized how stupid I am when I checked my mapping files again and saw that I made a very basic mistake. I’m gonna explain it fast so that I could be helpful to anyone else. Ofc fixed both my CNTRL:R and Launchpad

As it was:

I wanted “play pause” & “unit on” to be activated with LED feeback, when bank 1 is on
and both to be turned off (especially the led feedback) when bank 2 is on
&
I wanted “cue” & "CUP"to to be activated with LED feeback, when bank 2 is on
and both to be turned off (especially the led feedback) when bank 1 is on

Problem is, when I switched from bank 1 to bank 2, then back to bank 1 ; the bank 2 “cup”&“CUP” mapped commands woud be deactivated, as wanted. But LEDs would still be on; pretty annoying

To make it short the problem was that the lights from bank 2 would appear on bank 1.

Here’s the solution:

2.jpg

Each command play-pause//cue//CUP//unit on should have 2 out feedback; one for bank1 (m1=0) one for bank2 (m1=1).

On the pic the details concern ony “unit on”, the changes must be made for each command.

Hope silly mistake will be helpful !

Thanks for your help anyway
