How to progress in production

I feel like I’m really good at creating “riffs” when making tracks, but when it comes tomaking a full song I get overwhelmed. Any tips on how to get better?

It’s not the technical aspect. It’s how to shape songs, into verse breakdown etc

How about this…?

Load a track you like into your DAW.
Go through the track and drop markers on the timeline at certain points to build a map of the arrangement.

so ‘Intro’ might be your first one. then ‘build’ a bit later. then ‘main drop’ ‘cut bass’ … etc etc, basically wherever you hear a change in the arrangement make a note of it- get the idea?

Now DELETE the original track. and use your arrangement map as a template to build your own track.

Rinse and repeat with different tracks, until you get the feel for it.

The main thing to remember is the more tracks you complete, the better you’ll get at it!
