How to set up this?

A friend of mine have push and maschine. he can choose a sample an the maschine hardware by hitting a pad and then play melodic sequences with push. Is this also possible inside ableton?
I mean I only have push. So is it possible to play melodic sequences in abletons drum racks? This would be great for my workflow! I know the melodic step sequencer but it doesn’t work in drum racks. Would be great if someone could help me!

PS: Maybe a stupid question, but is it possible to color drum rack pads?

lol You urgently read my question again mr patch. I RTFM like you sayin. It’s not possible to play melodic patterns inside a drum rack. but maybe someone got a workaround? There have to be one..

If you had read the manual, you’d know that you CAN load non-drum sounds intoa drum rack.

There are literally a MILLION ways of doing this in Live.

Forget about Drum Racks. They’re basically multiple slot sample players - so they will ONLY play the sample that you have loaded in a slot. Create your own samples/notes in each slot using the transpose knob, and you can play all the melodies you want. But forget about Drum Racks.

Have you found Simpler yet? Simpler can do exactly what you want. Drop a sample into Simpler, and you can play that sound “melodically”.

You have Push, right? Push + Live absolutely PISSES ALL OVER Maschine. You’ve got an ultra powerful toolset there, and your failing yourself by not learning how to use it!

The Live manual is probably the best all round manual I’ve ever read, and by far the most useful.
