I got a Virus!!! While getting album art from iTunes

Yup, that is right my laptop got a damn virus while trying to get album art for my mp3s and I lost all my settings! I had to do a clean install of everything. Thats good that I had backed up my music 2 days before. Anybody know an easy way to get the art with out connecting my laptop to the internet?

  1. Putting all my music on my ipod then going to itunes on my desktop and getting album art that way? Then dumping all the music back on my laptop via iPod ripper!

That sucks man. Apples sneaky way of trying to make you buy a mac :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

so true…I’ve been eye-ing the black mac book…i need to come up with $1,000 USD

any1 wants to trade a vci-100 w/black skin & firmware v1.3 for a black macbook or intel mb pro??? :sunglasses:

also i lost my finshed .tsi for t_pro!

Suck!

Macs do own. <3 my MBP

IMO get one of the new Macbooks as they are so fucking awesome, and would be dope for gigging… maybe sell a kidney to buy one :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

The iTunes suggestions sounds OK…
Also get a decent Antivirus… perhaps Kaspersky.

Hmmm I would love to get a new MBP - I was really stupid of selling mine with only 4 months of use. Anyone wants to buy a set of B&W CM Serie speakers?

The thing is you shouldnt be running anti-virus software on your music install, you can connect to the net - just be weary of what sites you visit.

all i did was open iTunes, and my router has a firewall. so i had a mac attack!

Its possible you had an undetected trojan that decided to update itself when you plugged it into the net before it unleashed hell on the computer.

Just turning on your internet and opening itunes isnt enough to get a virus in itself - unless of course apple infected your computer :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi there,

You do not need to install any antivirus, you can scan online with Kaspersky:

then click on Online Scanner. Obviously, it requires Java, so that might be a downturn, but still you wont be installing a whole suite of software.

This is what I am thinking too.

If iTunes indeed is to blame, you’d better grind your axes and ask them for a suitable solution!

Im not even worried about the damn album art anymore. I just want to know where the damn virus came from. I found out b/c I used a thumb drive on my desktop to xfer some mp3s that I just got to my laptop, when I hookup my thumb drive back on my desktop, I get a pop up from my AV saying I got a trojan on the thumb drive! Then I started getting the win32 error on my laptop! I knew it was over at that point.

But everything is back to normal on my laptop. The only thing that is installed is traktor/echo driver/acrobat/& drivers needed.

Well… I wasn’t necessarily saying to have it enabled while using Traktor.

As Nemo said, you can use the online feature, of just create the emergency disk on a thumbdrive… everytime you turn your laptop on.. scan it through the thumb drive…

There are many alternatives that can be used…

So the trojan could have also been added elsewhere, not just iTunes.
