I need to bulk up my classic house collection, tips on how to do cheaply

Right I really need to bulk up my classic house music collection as got some gigs coming up where dance classics will be needed.

Whats the easiest and cheapest way I can pick up a whole load of dance classics. I’m hunting around albums but most arent dj friendly, so after some suggestions off you guys.

give me an example of what you think a classic house track is?

sometimes you have to track down the CD or the record to get them…you just have to dig for them like you would anything else…and hope that some are still available…

Hed Kandi club Classics albums were all 12" versions of the classics…

Cheers

There are compilations available, but they’re mostly on cd and would need to be shipped. So, your best bet might jus be beatport.

Teraxsource has more stuff along those lines and occasionally puts out bigger compilations.

And trackitdown might work depending on how far back their database goes, though getting all of your music like that is probably a bad idea.

Also, labels sometimes put out compilations that sometimes stick around on their website.

itunes

I really should let you dig yourself but i can’t help myself

Here’s a good start

http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/pacha-club-classics/id312667908

57 tunes for £3.41

/thread

you gawjus man this is exactly what I was after!

Damn, I hadn’t realized albums were that cheap on iTunes, bloody hell that a bargain !!!

And the downside … iTunes music is not available to buy in my current location grrrrrrrr!!!

quite the good deal. Too bad it doesn’t work in the US.

nem0nic posted a guide to getting around territory restrictions on the djtt blog a while ago.

It’s even easier now…there are Firefox, Safari, and Chrome extensions that do all of the leg work for you.

No worries geeza. Some tat but plenty of bangers in there :sunglasses:

Use google and get them for free?

Well if you mean pirating music then that’s a big no no innit.

Is £3.57 really too much money for you?

Comments like that are not welcome on this forum.
I don’t doubt that people ‘acquire’ music in that way but we don’t promote it on this forum.

Scour, scour, scour. All the fun of digging without leaving the house.

are they 320kbps?

256 vbr

aww i see  i just have this thing (if its not 320) then i dont want it … shame such a bargin to

I’m guessing that 256 vbr from original cd’s sold on itunes probably sounds better than TONS of “so called” 320 mp3s out there that were probably ripped at 128 originally and upconverted to 320. Just sayin’

you sure? Cause when you try if you itunes is linked to your credit card it won’t let you purchase because of the billing address on your credit card.

you should buy the tracks you like…weigh the details…but don’t be bound by them…
