Icecast - can anyone help me understand it?

Icecast - can anyone help me understand it?

Hey DJTT!

I was looking at Mr Hawtin’s TwitterDJ app, which looks really cool  but then I saw that it needs to be used in conjunction with Icecast, which for mac seems a really scary thing to try to deal with!

Anyone Mac savvy enough to help me out?
What is Icecast (in layman’s terms..)?
What scary process do i need to go through to get it up and running with my Mac?

Cheers peeps  I’m usually pretty geeky with my computers, but finding this whole thing a bit puzzling!

According to this is looks pretty easy:

Update: actually that is old, this is the current stuff here:

(macports is the successor to darwinports). Sorry I don’t use a Mac yet, or I would likely know more

I use Nicecast, it’s like icecast for macs. Well straight forward. Select Traktor as the software in the drop down an it just generates an external link that you can then use to broadcast.

+1 for nicecast. it’s awesome.

Oh but don’t know about the auto twitter update thing feature… did read on this post that it said they built that feature into traktor 1.2

Not my thing to be honest… to much twitter updates makes max an angry boy

but nicecast is wicked anyway
