Okay so I finally went out and got a pioneer sx2, as a Xmas gift to myself. Something I’ve always wanted, but now I have no idea how to really use it. I’m running it off of a Windows pc and we’ll I’ll be honest, all I can do is beat match. I’ve never mixed before knew a lot of people who have and still do, but they are in Philly. Without flaming the noob where can I go to get the gist of it.
Buy lots of good music that you enjoy and dig deeper than the beatport charts (most important part)>mix it together with your beat matching skills (and improve on them along with your phrasing)>learn your tracks inside and out>construct multiple DECENT mixes (be honest with yourself)>find an audience based on what you want to do with DJ’ing (friends, clubbers etc)
In terms of technical tricks etc. Scroll up to the top of this page>hover over blog>choose your tutorial/lesson.
If you are talking about phrasing etc and manual beat matching type the term into youtube.
The best bit of advise at improving quickly is to watch solid local dj’s play in clubs and by watching boiler room vid’s if you’re under 18/21 (How ever old it is where you live.) Better yet make friends with someone who know’s their way around decks and a mixer locally.
