In response to Ean’s blog post on loop mappings, here’s my X1 Mapping-
This mapping is based on my DVS setup of (one or two) turntables (track decks A and B) and a MidiFighter Spectra (remix decks C and D). It controls advanced looping functions similar to Ian’s video. I made a description in the download about how everything works. If I need to clarify functions, let me know and I will update.
This mapping will help you mix in perfectly (within seconds of loading) new songs that you have never heard before or set your beatgrids at an alarming speed. My general workflow after loading a new track is- Use the skip buttons and platter to find the beat that you want to be on when finished transitioning. Create a 32 count loop. Adjust the loop move size buttons to skip whole loops. Hit the loop move previous button to skip backwards by counts of 32 till you get to the first note of the song. Set beat marker 1 if it is was not set automatically. Hit play on any 32 count downbeat of the currently playing track, then skip 32 count loops forward to match the playing track and deactivate the loop while creating a perfect transition. You can also skip down to 16 etc sized loops for tracks with different song structuring.
I do all of this while mixing and it takes me only a few seconds from the time that I load the track to where I introduce it.
