Am I the only one who has this happen every single time he posts?
I was logged in when I loaded the page, so it has a quick reply box.
I type my post into the quick reply box.
But in the interim, DJTT forums has logged me out.
So I hit “preview” and get a log in prompt.
And I log in and get “you are logged in, proceed”
I click “proceed” and NOTHING HAPPENS
I try to click back through my browser history to see if my post is still there.
If it is, I copy and paste it into a text file, then RELOAD THE PAGE so it knows I’m logged in with the right cookie, or something.
I paste my post, hit “preview”, and the forum finally works as expected.
Why can’t I just STAY LOGGED IN? The above is MEGA FAIL. I thought it was just Opera, but it just happened to me in Firefox and GRRRR. Surely the ability to STAY LOGGED IN if you and only you ever use your computer is a common feature of forum software???
Perhaps I should have made it clear that I click “reply” and then often do not reply for a very long time, like 24 hours even.
If you do that, does the above sequence of events happen?
If, in this case, #6 (“6) I click “proceed” and NOTHING HAPPENS”) actually worked as expected and delivered me to a preview or submitted my post, I’d be irritated at having to log in again, but not annoyed, because I wouldn’t have lost my post. Losing my post, or having any chance of doing so, annoys the hell out of me.
The only thing I’ve had happen to me when I’ve taken my time to reply (max 20 minutes maybe) is that there be no new posts, but that hasn’t happened in awhile.
Did you click the “remember me” checkbox when logging in? Are you using a cleaning app that selectively cleans cookies or does it just delete all of them?
