I had them on my DDM4000 and not on my Numark Stealth.
I want to build my own mixer but I really feel that ear fatigue while mixing messes with my ability to set my levels equally in my mixes.
Is it just a matter of More practice?
Rane Empath for example doesnt have channel db meters but others do.
1 - use the master level. If your upfaders are smooth enough, just set the gains a bit hot (assuming you’ve got the headroom), don’t slam the faders, and plan to leave some space at the top…and just adjust when you’ve got the time.
2 - the Empath actually lets you switch it to metering the cue signal, so you have to do stuff…but you can see all the levels you need.
3 - I’m actually researching building an all-digital mixer…probably going to start on it in earnest this summer some time. If you want to collaborate or share notes, PM me. I’m going to be working at the Freeside hacker/maker space in Atlanta with some people better at electronics and low-level coding than me, and it might fall apart if the prototype/demo board costs too much, but…it might be the only way to get what I really want.
