We need a rep system here
I don’t rep for anybody, I work in the post production audio industry and am infatuated with proper sound reinforcement systems. So many clubs and events don’t get it right.
no..i mean… rep system in the forum… I dont know what you understood sorry
like a reputation system, you post something that I find usefull and I “like it” or something else and you become a more “liked” member
Anyway, that article is awesome.
Oh I get it. I thought you were implying I was a “rep” for Funktion One or something. My Bad. ![]()
noooo hahaha
i enjoyed that article, dont get me wrong, i like funktion systems, and i did get to play on one once… for about 30 mins. But i kinda feel like funktion is getting to be like a hipster thing. like a solid gold iphone case, just because its expensive doesn’t make it godlike. I have heard results from a $40,000 JBL system, that in a properly acoustically treated room could compete with funktion. I think the breakdown works like this
50% is the speakers
30% is the room
20% is the engineer or front of house.
i have played on a system built by these guys http://www.danleysoundlabs.com/
and the sound felt like it was coming from inside my brain…really good quality.
We have a small F1 system in town, that apparently has no sound engineer and is limited because of noise complaints. So it’s nothing special.
Is that Fibbers, markar1?
I played on that every Thursday for a long time.
The only time a sound engineer ever goes near it is when bands play, so it’s tuned completely wrong for club nights. No amount of corrective EQ on a DJ mixer could do anything to cut out the harshness in the upper mids.
A lot of people think an F1 system is a magic bullet, but as per the commenter above, there’s a lot more to good sound than buying some cabs…
‘makar1’, sorry.
I’ve got some kind of mental block when it comes to spelling your username…
Might be yeah. Tokyo has F1 in the main room too, and since it’s opposite a hotel everything gets toned down.
More people get the name wrong that right it seems.
Oh yeah, forgot about the one at Tokyo. I played on that once, it’s better, as it’s purely a club system, but I don’t remember it being all that special.
The one Tokyo have at Digital Newcastle… Now THAT’S a well tuned F1.
nice read, thanks for sharing
