Ok guys so lately Ive been talkin to a very popular dj outside the states but has no contacts here. His been featured on tiestos clublifes, pvd, etc…My thought was why not try to take his talent this way and promote/manage him in gettin into the club scene in america. It may sound stupid but we actually talk daily and have mentioned tryin to make something happen. The problem is makin it happen?!? whats the best way to actually making this a reality ?
Does he/she have their own web site for promoting?
Does he/she have any Cds ready to be passed out to Clubs, Promoters?
Does he/she plan on moving to the states?
Does he/she have a manager?
thanks fracas, i asked him these questions. he does not have a manager but works with his label, his not planing on movin to the states but would like to play here. Cds should not be a problem…
Sounds like he will need to start searching every hot club in the stats and start mailing off Cds to them and it wouldnt hurt to drop a good Bio about himself at the same time. A lot of club owners want that info that way they know some info on the dj.
Well, he/she should try first to show talent locally. If someone could record it it would be gr8. If someone wants to breakthrough in some other country rather than his own, he should be prepared to pay for transport to that county on his own at first. For example, if you are a dj from, let say Brasil, and you fly to Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, club owners are going to be very interested in you, as the can show off that the have in program some dj from other country, rather then some local guy.
Is the person well known in his country for DJing? If so it would help to have their past promoters or club owners info as well. That way if they want to check up on said DJ he will have a good back ground.
my advice is much like whatever else said. If he took an extended holiday in the US who could then get some gigs around that. To expect them to fly in anything other than a big name is almost unheard of.
