international dj?

international dj?

so i saw a cheeky poster the other day from some DJs in our “big smoke”(auckland-NZ)
one the DJs had ‘vegas’ written beside his name. now to me this implies the guy has made the effort to come to NZ all the way from vegas to play a gig. the guy has been living in NZ for years but is origionally from vegas. can you really justify this? false advertising methinks

thats weak!

kinda a good advertising idea on his part methinks

its bullshitting people tho

lol good advertising. DJTT saying “you will get free money if you sign up” is also good advertising. but its not true. tis bullshit. there needs to be some kinda commitee against this… pondering

lol i would love to see a commitee go through for that, let the guy rep his hometown even if it is bullshit, as long as he is playing dope music who cares where he from or actually living

haha. i dunno tho, its a little different in NZ because we are so isolated. international performances are much more rare here than anywhere else, so it gives them a special significance and i consider it rather rude to abuse that

I lived in san francisco for a week as a kid, maybe i should put that in our next flyers eh waddya reckon kaon haha

oh ok never mind lol

im vented now i feel much better

I’m sorry but I agree with Kaon. That is complete Bullshit. When Evol Intent moved to Los Angeles, they stopped repping Atlanta. When DJ Rap moved to LA, she stopped repping UK. It’s indecent and an insult to the DJs/Performers who are legitimately trying to make an international name for themselves. It’s also an insult to the area that he’s living in cause it shows a certain disrespect for his locale by not acknowledging where he is truly from. If he really wants to rep Vegas, he should live there. It’s not like Hamilton is somehow a suburb of Vegas; it’s on a completely different continent.

Your missing some of the details Kaon, he is from Rotorua or Roto-vegas as anybody from the north island would recognize it.

Its still a tad cheaky but only if your a tard or not from NZ :stuck_out_tongue:

well what about the other guy on the poster, i cant remember where he said he was from but it was nothin i could relate to any NZ town

Foe now on I’m gonna make every promoter put “South Philly Yo” next to my name on flyers

depends on how long he has lived there.
i mean, if you move to a town and 2 weeks later, you play a gig. you should put your old town down because you havnt been influenced by the local scene.

but, you also have to look at context. did the rest of the people on the poster have their current location or their hometown on it? i live near haywards heath, but my hometown is richmond va (lived their for most my life). if a promoter asked me, where are you from? i would say richmond. if he said, where do you live? i would say haywards heath.

back in the day we used to put the names of clubs we have played in after our names - so mine would include Sound Factory, S.F., Gism, London and Joy @ The Equinoxe & Paradise Factory Manchester)

seems to me the fairest way of doing things
