Is it me or does Guitar center Suck?

So I just drove 45 min’s to guitar center to buy Traktor Scratch Pro since its on sale. Well when I get there the salesmen looks at me like Im crazy when I say that NI has a 50% off sale going on. So he says let me check with my manager. At the same time Im searching Ni web site to show them the deal going on. Well long story short. I was there for about 30 mins waiting for them to give the Okay to sale at the 50% off price. Well when its time to go get the product I wanted they were like, Im sorry sir but we havent carried any TSP in stock in over 5 months. Its a Special order item. So I wasted a good 2 hours with them.

BLOWS GOATS!!!

So Im just going to order from Ni. Thought I was going to cut back on shipping time by picking it up from GC but no Luck.

Rant is now over.

sounds like your typical guitar center encounter. i absolutely hate shopping there, but theyve put all of the other dj shops out of business (and i live in a fairly big city) and so i’m left with either guitar center or the internet, and if i dont feel like waiting for shipping, its all i’ve got. BOOOOO! i feel your pain man…

I really miss MARS music. I did soooo much business with that store. I cant believe they went out of business.

I had similar issues with them before.

they suck

i walk in…walk over to the counter and say

“hi…i would like to the audio2 from native instruments…the internet tells me you have it in stock”

huh?

one more time for the hearing impaired…

would you li-

“no thanks”

can i interest you i-

“no thank you”

(cold stare)

Damn was it really that bad? I bought my S4 originally online then actually chose to buy it from Guitar Center due to the money I saved (I cancelled the online order).

I bought my S4 on Saturday morning with a 3 year full coverage (including water damage and what not) for $1010.85. On top of that they had excellent customer service with me, all my questions were answered, and they were very friendly.

I have no complaints, but hearing everyone else complain about them makes me wonder.

Wow. I feel a bit spoiled. My local GC has a xone:dx, an S4, TSP, TP, SSL, SL3, and a Rane Sixty-Eight on the floor…afaik the dx is the only special order item. I don’t know if they bought it as a floor model or if it was a return.

yup…

typical

they’ve got loooooooads of Serato and NS7 gear though.

Not very accommodating to DJs in general.

Never had a problem with these guys: http://www.zzounds.com/

Their are NO Xones in stock either. They are all special order. I tried to buy mine their over the summer. But that was a no go. Had to order them off ebay for a GREAT price.

I’ve never liked GC myself.

Thats cus no-one wants to buy it…

Oh what !!! Come on, it was begging for a remark:smiley:

ive never really had problems with guitarcenter…

when buying my traktor scratch pro ( i showed a price match of an educational version)
and they accepted it so I got it for about 300 at the time…(non-educational to0)

Also, went in to buy 2 MACKIE SRM 450’s @ 600 each
the guy gave them to me for 500 each (saved 200$) cause i said i had a promo card they mailed in..so he just went online and got the cheapest price possible (wasnt even an authorized dealer)

Well I guess its a flip of the coin on which GC is really good at keeping the customers happy. But in the Dallas Tx area you dont get shit!

I have pro but every where I go people are using TSP so I thought I might as well pick it up and work with it. Myself I love using the midi controllers. But we all Need to evolve in the dj game.

Yes, another large chain superstore fucking local economies in the face across the United States.

I’ve actually never had a bad experience with them other than not finding what I’m looking for without a convoluted ordering and waiting process. For me that is not reason enough to push the smaller local shops out of business.

It has an unpleasant atmosphere to me. I don’t get the impression that a good number of their employees particularly enjoy their jobs.

I do enjoy on occasion going in and having a play with the v-drum sets and synthesizers they have set up. I’d probably be a huge fan of the place if they sold beer.

I would agree with you if they sold beer. But Im a diabetic so I still would have to say shit on GC. Just wish their were more music stores out there that could have items in stock for Djs. I mean hell their is enough guitars, basses, drums, or p.a. in stock. Why not help a dj out from time to time?

Haven’t you heard? Being a rock-n-roll star is where it’s at!!

If your going to order something maybe try that new DB music downtown? I don’t know anything about them other than the owner was in my sons Boy Scout troop.

Never had too much of a problem with GC. In fact, I have bought alot of my gear there. However, its really hit or miss as far as finding a rep with any gear knowledge, and some locations really do suck. The GC in East Brunswick, NJ is usually pretty good for anyone in the area. Plus, they will often cut you deals if you haggle with them. I got my apc40 a couple of weeks ago for 250, when it was still listed at 299 in the circular (not sure if its dropped officially or not). and you can’t beat their performance guarantee plan.

I would rather order from NI’s site. At least i wont be taxed .
