Is my mixing style "right"?

Is my mixing style “right”?

So i have been mixing for a couple months now, I have released some mixes out and people seem to like how I mix, usually I will mix the first part(s) of a song into the ending of another or build ups etc. However I always feel that I need to make my mix “perfect” and am never %100 satisfied by my mixes, does this happen to anyone else?

Mixes are never 100% perfect, from my experience. Listen to your mixes, figure out what you could have done better, and try to do it the next time you throw down. It can only make you better.

Short answer:

If you have to ask, no.

^^ That.

It’s very rare for anyone after only a couple of months to release perfect mixes. Be patient and keep practicing.. don’t be in a hurry.

And if you dont have to ask - still maybe no. I believe its a holy grail.

Lol. Totally ^ that.

Anyone successful at anything is never going to be 100% satisfied with their work. They use that to keep improving and getting better. If you hit a point where you’re 100% where you want to be and see no room for growth, you’re doing it wrong.

Perfect, thanks !

I was thinking the exact same but if you look and focus real closely you kind of find faults in all the ‘top’ dj’s mixes too, once your enjoying yourself and rocking the place im pretty sure people wouldnt notice if you even just pressed play as the next song finished. Its good to have doubts though makes you perfect your mix but people are always going to do a mix of the exact same songs different, add diff effects, cue at diff points, drop eq’s at difftimes ect… Another thing is its always hard to represent the energy level when listening to a mix because its not spontantious and usually played back on headphones and bad quality recordings so dont let that make you doubt urself either

From what I’ve heard, there are some “awesome DJs” that suck. And there are some really awesome DJs that people say suck. shrug If you’re not 100% happy then you got work to do.

But if people like it then you’re doing something right, at least. Dunno what, but something.

Makes so much sense, Im glad im not the only one  Iv started to notice problems with even professional mixes which proves, no one is “perfect”
