Is there a way to mix 1210’s on iOS?

Hey guys

So recently my MacBook went kaput. I have left an iPad Air a pair of 1210’s mk2 an A&H xone 32 mixer and some speakers.

I’m aware of Traktor and Serato and other iOS and desktops software but what I want to know is there any way to dj through my iPad on my 1210’s? I know I can buy a box and do it through my Mac but does anyone know of any iOS ways to do this?

Thanks guys

Thanks buddy!

Just to confirm, I can load my mp3’s Into the app and control them with my iPad?

You’ll need an audio interface and some supported timecode.

Mmm cool, thanks

Is there a cheap but effective way to do this? On quite a budget. If not, what’s the recommendation for this?

How cheap?

I think the short answer is “no”. You will need an audio interface that not only has preamps for the turntables, but works with iOS…

Thanks

The one I’m looking at is an Akai AMX, seems to fit everything. Still, any advice or suggestions would be great

If you have a 4in 4out soundcard that works with ios (class compliant) just add 2 cheap phono preamps like Behringer pp400. That’s cheapest.

Thanks again

So this is why I’ve come up with and I really need an honest opinion.

Akai AMX with usb powered hub
AKAI Wireless LPD8 (for controlling effects)
1210’s
IPAD Air 1

What we’re you using with your Mac before it died?

You must have had some interface or controller?

I had a Traktor S4 (which I sold) with Traktor Pro.

This new setup I’ve concocted seems it will be ok, only the AMX(the main part) has had trouble with IOS in the last apparently

AMX should work fine, LPD8 should be mapped, but you can control fx onscreen, afais.
For a bit more there’s the Xone 23c, a real hardware mixer. Not perfect, but it’s not a controller as the AMX.

Thanks

Is there any advantage the A&H has over the AMX? I think the AMX can be used as an analog mixer aswell…?

AMX is not analog mixer, it’s mixing surface = controller. See it as the S4 without the jogs and cue buttons. You can’t use it without a computer.

The AMX won’t work with your turntables unless it’s plugged into a laptop. You can just have the 23C hooked up and play normal vinyl records.

Right ok.

Well I’ll be using the AMX with my iPad and the controller records. ASFAIK that should work, I already have an A&H mixer xone32 but as long as the AMX works I’ll probably go with that for the moment

That and an LPD3 will be enough for what I want to do.

I meant it won’t work unless plugged in to a device specifically for DJing. I’d honestly go for the 23C if you can stretch to it.

Thanks

But in all honesty the experience I’ve had for scratching with A&H products has been quite bad.

I get your point but for what I’m using it for I can’t really see the point. I’m only using it for use with my iPad. If solely for vinyl I’ll use my other mixer.

Perhaps I’m overlooking something but I reckon it should be ok..

Having looked at it now I can see the outputs are superior and tbh it does look a lot better but I’m just worried about it working with my iPad…I’m not sure the iPad can take it
