Hi guys I got an s8. I find that when traktor crashes the mixer does crash as well and needs to be restarted.
As it seems the mixer is all software mixer and there is separation between the sound card and mixer it crashes together with traktor. Now the reason I wanted a standalone mixer is to quickly switch over to something else just like any other standalone mixers in the market.
So isn’t calling this a standalone mixer misleading by ni??
I just hope I knew that before I bought it as I wouldn’t have bought it than.
and I feel let down by ni playing with words to fool buyers.
anyway just wanted to let you guys know and putting your laptop screen just dosent happen with s8. Trust me on this you be spending more time looking at 3 screens now as some important functions are missing on s8 like searching for specific track.
All I am saying don’t believe the hype people like e.g is selling you. I got one s8…
I thought they called it a standalone mixer because it CAN be used as a standalone mixer, i.e. you can throw some TTs or CDJs in to it and use it as a standalone mixer without the use of laptop or software…
You definitely can’t use the built in decks without Traktor running, that much is pretty clear, i don’t think they tried to mislead anybody on that.
If you are running audio through the software and the software crashes then the S8 won’t be receiving anymore information and then would stop doing what it was doing…
if you had TTs or something hooked up then you would be able to use vinyl or cds to keep playing whilst the software reloaded.
assuming that it works like my Z2… you can switch over to a analog source with the press of a button and disconnect the laptop without any audio dropouts. So yep, its a full standalone mixer.
So far djtechtools been censorship stopping me post.
As I said I tried all of that. The only way to make s8 work is with a full restart of s8 when traktor crashes.
I guess it’s a standalone mixer when used without traktor but it changes when used with traktor as the mixer crashes together with traktor.
