It is finally time! Could use some help

Hey DJTT

It’s finally time. As summer draws to an end I can delve deep into the reaches of my bank account and withdraw summer cash for spending on equipment!

As of now I’ve got:

Audio 2 DJ
TPro 2
VCI-100SE

I’ve lined up to buy:

  • 2 Numark TT-200’s for 300 bucks (total) from a friend. Great condition and with brand new needles

What I have to buy still:

  • A simple 2 channel mixer for basic scratching (first time using turntables)
  • Traktor Scratch Pro 2 with sound card for turntables (Audio 4-10)
  • Thinking maybe a midifighter? Maybe an X1?

Basically what I’m asking for here (not sure why I needed such a damn long post for this) are some good suggestions for a cheapish, 2 channel mixer for turntables with some basic scratching and whatnot. Need some suggestions for this I’ve found some decent cheap Numark mixers but I’m not sure if the websites are credible

Also, with this setup will I still be able to use my VCI for loading, effects, loop recording and samples in Traktor 2?

Yeah you’ll be able to use your vci to load effects and such like.
You could mix internally and use your VCI as the mixer. I know a fair few people on the forum do that.

If I do run it through my VCI how does that work? Do I plug my VCI into my audio 8 or whatever sound card?

Dude, remember! It’s a midi controller. No other hardware actually has any effect on the functioning of a controller, anything you can do now you will be able to do later
unless you run out of usb ports :stuck_out_tongue:

If I were you I’d just use the VCI as a mixer and work internally until you have the money/desire to buy a nice mixer. No point wasting a hundred or two quid when you already have something that will do the job.

No, you plug it into the laptop as normal. Again, midi controller, not effected by anything else :stuck_out_tongue:

Just set your decks one and two too scratch input and make sure you have your TT’s plugged into the sound card and your set to go!

If you did want to go with a real mixer, could go for something like a Vestax PMC-06 pro… Very simple 2-channel mixer, very small footprint (about to size of an X1), and you can find them decently cheap at times… One on ebay right now for $125 including shipping… Pardon Our Interruption...
