Since I usually play to a crowd that likes to hear a brought range and who know each other well and therefore like to get a bit crazy on the dance floor I usually throw on “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” fairly late at night.
Usually a bunch of girls start dancing together, a few guys are happy that they can finally get close to the girl they have been hitting on all night and everybody is happy. Sometimes it feels like there might be room to follow this up with another similar track. I usually end up throwing some other track that allows slow dancing, but I wonder if there is another track that would be a natural follow up if the crowd seems to be up for more of the same.
bonnie tyler - i need a hero
george micheal - careless whisper
john bon jovi - bed of roses
aerosmith - don´t want to miss a thing
barry white - can´t get enough of your love baby
guns´n´roses - sweet child o´mine
prince - purple rain
And if you play the Derrick Carter remix (not really different just extends the end with a sync’ed beat) you can get into lots of 80’s house remixes, ie different gear vs police-World keeps running down, Eurythmics-Love is a Stranger(Coldcut Mix). You get the point. Smooth remixes of 80’s gems. There’s A TON of em out there.
I was beat juggling the intro to Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams over New Order - Blue Monday at my mates wedding on Saturday… people nearly lost their minds
