This is the setup I’ve got in the bar (…a while ago I inherited a basement, I ended up turning it into a bar)! Some of the equipment (an A&H Xone 92 specifically - not pictured - and the Void Mycro 10s) are bar-owned, but the rest is my personal gear.
Very nearly splashed out on a VCI-400 EGE… but after shipping and import duty it was going to cost serious money so decided to hang-fire on that one for a while.
Thanks man, a friend of mine was commissioned to take some photographs at a sea swimming competition in the irish sea. That photo on the booth was ‘a dud’ because it didn’t have any actual swimmers in it, and so couldn’t be included in the collection. 6 months pass and I notice it on his blog, next thing you know I’m getting it printed 3m x 5m! (For the back wall, visible in the first pic). Had it printed by a company that specialises in billboard prints. If you interested in the process and have a bit of time to kill, if you scroll back through my blog (address is in my sig) you can see some pics of me and a few friends on our first attempt at wallpapering. Also, if you have any feedback on my blog, especially bad feedback, that would be pretty sweet.
(In case you can’t tell from this post, I’ve become a little obsessed with blogging recently! Another blog of mine is about a bike race I’m organising… check that out too if you fancy at falbrc.tumblr.com).
Thanks! It’s taken a lot of blood sweat and beers to get to where we are today, plus it always seems like there’s more improvements to be made.
We’re open to the public 8pm-3am 6 nights a week. Tend to have a DJ in one or two nights a week, and I’ll DJ one or two nights as well (it’s fun for me to practice on a live audience!) The place packs out on Thursday Friday Saturday (well, most of the time anyway) and is usually nice and steady during the week.
Thank you, it’s in Falmouth in Cornwall! Pint-wise we’ve got Tribute (St. Austell), Cornish Knocker (Skinners) and occasionally Doom Bar (Sharps). (As well as Carlsberg, Guinness, Thatchers Gold and Rattler).
My sort of place this, looks great, especially with the local real ale (puts hand up to being a fully fledged CAMRA member ).
Just what I was thinking, a visit is tempting although I’m little further up the road in Dorset (OT, Exeter - one of my old haunts whilst at Uni, used to spend a fortune in Reform).
I can imagine, I’ve not been down for a few years. Reform Records used be down in Fore Street but then moved up to Little Castle St (near Timepiece), I think they’re back down in Fore St again now(?). I used to do a night at Timepiece a good few years ago now and would head to The Cavern and Phoenix (Gandy St) for nights out a lot, plus hold my hand up to entering Rococo and Warehouse (on the quay) for student nights Pub wise - Bowling Green, Black Horse, Red Cow, Coolings, The Imperial etc.
Oh reform records! I thought you meant an old club called reform. Yeh, it’s back down on fore street in a little arcade. Warehouse was Mambo’s and Tiffany’s when I first got here in 2008 but it closed at the beginning of 2009. Of course Rococo’s and Lemmy saturdays are still shit (although the Lemmy now has a Funktion One sound system, confusingly), and the cavern I imagine is as it always has been - hot and sweaty but good music. I might be heading down there tonight actually.
The Phoenix still does good nights and there’s a new place on the quay called cellar door which I’ve heard good things about but never been to. Apparently they do a lock-in til 6am every other tuesday. I live right by the vic so that covers most of my pub needs!
Thanks man! Yeah, so hip it hurts. We get all the trendy graphic designers etc drinking in the bar so I try at least to keep an eye on popular trends. Keep an eye out for crosses ( X ) in logos at the moment, they seem to be everywhere!
