Just bought Presonus Firebox to replace my fast track pro - good buy ?
For some reason i decided to buy the Presonus Firebox to replace my fast track pro!
I have read that it is the nuts but, what do u guys that currently use one think ?

The drivers/chipset could be better really, but thats quite nit picking - all in all its a really good card, the audio quality is mint, the headphone output will blow your eardrums, the mic inputs are top quality.
Got an audio fire 4 and have to say its really hard to say which i like better between the two - if only i could mash them together into a single device it would be the perfect soundcard haha

Well im sure its going to be better than the fast track pro - even though i have only had that for 3 months LOL!
But i like to mix loud and the headphone volume is double shit on the fast track pro!
I am looking to add to my ever growing studio - any other interesting things i should be looking at ?
What kinda studio ? DJ studio or production studio ? or maybe both ?
Personally i am a pretty big fan of the SCS3 controllers for mashing with fx (took some bomes code to setup to my liking though)
Theres also the midifighter that comming, everyone needs one of those things !
Both really mate, i love mixing but have a big interest in production - i have only ever made about minute and half of a tune on Reason (and i thought i was a superstar producer lol) but would love to do more!
My set up at the moment is pretty small but here it goes:

macbook pro (500gb HDD / 4 GB ram 2.4GHZ)
Was thinking about buying a vci 300 jst for mixing and then use the 100 just for effects ? not sure if thats a reasonable thing to do ?

Cant buy them yet sadly, we are working on it ! They will be available on the DJTT webstore - Fatlimey and Midifidler have been working their butts off on these things and they are going to be very very cool !
I cant wait for them to come on sale as much as you guys, but currently there isn’t any official date or ball park range of release that i can share with you guys 
Rest assured though, you guys are going to be very pleased when you get your hands on these babies. IMHO they are gonna be even cooler than the original ones that Midifidler made. Keep an eye on the forums and blog for more info !

None of my audio producer friends use it and i dont own a mac(yet anyway), i really wanna give it a go though - heard looots of good things.
For the moment i am happy using FL studio anyway though, especially with FL9 there isnt a whole lot holding my productions back (before FL9 the CPU usage was killing my creativity).
i can’t say good enough things about logic. i absolutely love it

Can u recommend any decent midi keyboards ? I have used my mates M-Audio OXY 8 which is basic but does the job!
Also do u think it would be worth me buying a vci 300 to mix on and use my vci 100 for stand alone effects ?
my ears are fucked anyway lol - too much clubbing and exposure to loud music from a young age!

for compact things like the oxy 8 i’d recommend the axiom 25, it’s pretty nice. if you want a serious keyboard, i recommend the mpk49.
are you talking mixing in traktor? you can mix with the 300, but if you want a controller to just do effects it’d be a waste to get a 100 just for that. i’d recommend a trigger finger, mpd32, or even nanopad/nanokontrol to handle the effects portion.
OK maybe to say they r fucked was a bit strong but they have taken a battering!
I have a 100 already! TBH i want to find mapping thats going to let me use the jog wheels for manual beat match / scratching !
I am very new to the midi controller world (as u have probably seen from my previous posts) and at the moment i am using the standard mapping with T Pro and it doesnt have the option to use the jog wheels how i want.
How difficult would it be to do my own mapping ? Just so i can use the jog wheels in that way!
man i wish i could tell you the mapping i was using when i had mine.. it did this exactly. but i’m sure there is someone here who can tell you what mapping to get to do this, as i’m sure there are newer and better mappings nowadays.
as for doing your own mapping, it takes a little bit of coding knowledge, but you can learn it and try to make a custom one, it’s probably the best option if you’re willing to put in the time and effort (and frustration 
) for it.
well the time part is a bit of an issue as i have a pretty hectic job and stuff! But i sell specialized software and hardware and we have a few top notch programmers that only talk in code LOL - might ask them actually!
Its such a shame that the standard mapping is poor - i mean whats the point in having vinyl mode and it stops the fucking track ? and i feel like a cheat pressing sync then cueing ( u must know what i mean ?)
they should eat it up, i know i am (well, used to be) a code junkie and any time i see a new coding language it’s like learning a different dialect rather than a new language. they may be able to script everything you need for you.
are you talking about when you touch the platter or the clear edge? i don’t remember much of the standard mapping because right when i got it i installed a new mapping
basically when i press the vinyl mode button it stops the track and lets me touch the platter to scroll through the track however, if the track is playing and i want to do the same it doesnt !
When i was using Traktor 3 LE on my G5 imac it worked flawlessly - the mapping washow i wanted it and beat matching with was a dream - since upgrading to T Pro and buying my MBP its just become a head ache!!
