Just got my new overlay… somewhat disapointed

I know this is a very minor thing. But i really liked the feel of the old ver, it has a nice matte finish, the new one has a sheen to it as well as a texture which make it look a little cheesy in my honest opinion.

Either way as long as it works then I guess that’s all that really matters.

Am I being a little too picky?

i just ordered one. dang…didnt know the material had changed. this will be my 3rd overlay. i was quite happy with the quality, texture, and look of the first two…

We definitely want to get feedback from everyone on the new materials we are using. We chose a slightly more glossy finish that hides finger prints much better than the old ones. While I also prefer matte textures, the older matte style showed oil and fingerprints too easily IMO.

Hmmm never thought about it hiding the oils in the fingers. Good call.

You can see that they are a deeper shade of black now too, which is really nice. Overall I think the semi-gloss is a good compromise of look and performance.

I’m liking my new overlay although I nearly stuck it down on top of the old metal plate that goes over the top half of my vci100, very near miss there! Will try it with sticky, sweaty, oily fingers this weekend and see how clean it stays

Didn’t feel the need to start a new thread, so I’m bringing this one back..

I’ve had the new overlay on for about a month now, and I’m pretty disappointed as well.. Although I’m not experiencing any warping (and pray that I don’t) like some other users on here, the edges of the overlay are starting to leak glue and are getting all sticky.. in addition, some of the knob cutouts are not proper size (smaller than they should be) and as a result if I push the knob all the way down, it has a hard time turning as the overlay gets in the way, so I had to make sure that some of the knobs aren’t on all the way down. Overall this new overlay just feels much less refined than the older one, which is very disappointing because I loved the craftsmanship of the old one

I wonder if the new overlay is the on the current stock of VCI-100SE, i’m planning on getting one soon but quality is one of my main concerns with moving back to midi controllers over mixers and turntables .
