Hey everyone, So I’ve been playing gigs with traktor pro for a long time and am just now making the switch over to ableton, mainly because of Justice’s live show A cross the Universe. I was wondering if anyone knew how justice was able to take loops and speed them up to ridiculous amounts then drop into the next song at the perfect tempo. I know they aren’t speeding up the loops with the master tempo clock because they are able to speed loops up then drop into the next song with no delay at all. So does anyone know how justice does this within ableton, or even some of justice’s setup in ableton. Thanks

he he for anyone new to that photo, in their defence:
you can see the plug has come out at the back
MPD 24’s dont require drivers of software, they are MIDI class compliant and you can whip em in and out as you wish, so I recks they do play live still
Hey thanks for the cool link. I"m still looking for their looping technique though.
This has got to be the funniest Justice Set Video Ever. Gaspard doesn’t do anything, but it’s all good.
Hehe come on, it’s just a sound check, give them a break.
And the picture is really out of context, there are more pictures from that gig right before that moment and after, the controller just got unplugged, he plugs it in seconds later.
Haha, it’s all good, I still love Justice. They could plug a freaking Ipod into the PA system and it would be totally fine with me, no mixing at all haha.
lol a job he works his ass off at!
I think it is pretty cool that Ean’s remix of Dance is better than the original, IMO. anyone else feel the same way?
I’m pretty sure Ean didn’t remix it, he just edited together two remixes of it together.
EDIT: Just listened to it again, it’s the Justice and MSTKRFT remixes put together. I don’t know why but it really irks me when people are saying that EAN’s version is better than the original, when you guys aren’t even acknowledging the people who did the original remixes. On that note, I honestly think most people associate the MSTRKFT remix as being the only version because it’s just that good haha, it’s even the reason the Justice remix exists. It feels like the original is never played out.
Anyway this thread is really offtopic - does anyone know the answer to the question?
but if the MPD isnt actually connected to anything then it isnt sending anything to anything. I think that was the point.
Ive seen Justice more times than i can count (seriously) and they are dogshit live. They make some good records but as DJs they are just noise.
In their favour they have said that they are rubbish DJs in many interviews so…
But at least they arent as bad as a Simian Mobile Disco DJ set. That has to be most mind numbing DJ set i ever saw. And i saw them 4 times last year and it didnt get any better on the last listen.
Most of the DJs on DJTTs are better than Justice and SMD as DJs and thats why i have no problem bitching about them. If you make good records then stick to doing that. Just cus you make records doesnt mean you can be a good DJ.
Wow, I’ll have to argue that. I check SMB last summer at Pukkelpop, daaaaamn! I really had a list afterwards wich went like SMB > Tocadisco > Boys Noize > Junkie XL.
Junkie was bad, SMB was great! The intro.. oh damn, great memories hehe ^^
