Looking to sample some kicks from tunes that are already out. Normally use sample packs, (vengeance), but they all got deleted, and its a pain in the ass to get them back. (I actually bought them the first time, but now I have installed them too many times).
Anyone know of any CLEAN ( Kick ONLY! ) samples i can take from tunes? Found some afrojack kicks, but eh. not quite punchy enough.
Thanks,
J
is there a reason you can’t go through your own library to find the type of kick you are looking for? it’s highly subjective and i can already see people’s suggestions getting shot down because it’s not exactly what you want. why don’t you just contact vengeance if you’ve bought the sample packs from them and see if they can help you?
Im just asking if you guys know any kicks which are un’masked’ meaning they are alone in the mix at some point in the song. I’ve obviously been searching and am not only asking you. Looking for a house kick, punchy.
Thanks,
J
So you want other people to hand over everything they have taken the time to find/save/create and just spoon feed it? Just google it man. Internet is a wonderful thing.
I think there are very few house songs with unmasked kicks. It would probably be a lot faster to dig through all the kicks that are available for free everywhere on the internet.
Tbh, I would highly recommend taking some nice kick samples and building/layering your own kick. This will be most satisfying in the end, I guess. I personally went that way and finally got the super, tight and punchy kick drum I’ve always been looking for. I now use it in almost every track so it was definitely worth the effort. Probably should build one or two more soon…
Helps a lot but you probably won’t end up with the original sample in the end. Often you’ll have to cut too much high frequencies for example so that your kick sample will lack there. Then you will have to layer again…
It’s to hard to end up with an original sample unless its a simple kick. Electronic music producers spend hours just working on percussion sometimes processing and editing then repeating the process.
As you said layer them, but personally I think every kick should be layered regardless.
If you want samples from house songs have a look at the vengeance packs, just about every kick is there. Also you’ll be surprised how many artists use them.
It’s a community driven deal where people upload loops, samples, acapellas, etc. It’s not as easy as snagging a big loop pack, but if you have a specific “thing” you’re looking for it’s a deep, deep resource. The search function is nice too, try “House Kicks”, or sort by percussion and see what you come up with.
Look at some chilled house songs almost every song on Deadmau5’s Random Album Title Hvae empty kicks that sound great.
I totally agree with making your own drums sounds. You can’t be original if you never make anything yourself.
Thomas Penton’s Essential Drums is an excellent drum pack. A large pack of clean, various kickdrums, snares, percussion, etc. I just love it but I still do some EQ, layering, compression etc with it to get the sound I need.
