kind of OT: homecoming fail?

condensed version:so nick tells me and henry that my school wasted $15k on our homecoming dance because the just wanted a big name. with a smaller name and a smaller budget we wold wake more money. his budget: “a couple hundred dollars” and ticket prices would still be $15

heres some extra info:
-generally, if the dance sucks one year, people wont come if you do the same thing next year

  • a couple hundred dollars for speakers and an ipod wont cut it for obvious reasons

-for the past 2 years roughly 1800- 2000 people went to the homecoming dance
that means the school gained 27-30k in ticket sales, minus 15k for the dj, and the monster set up they brought that leaves around 15k in profit

not a waste

  • he said the school wasted money, however the dance is part of student councils separate budged that does not use school money. (henry is in studen council)

so after a lot of back and forth i was pretending he wasnt serious (sadly he was) so i pulled out my ipod nano (the small one with the touch screen) opened a picture of troll face, closed one eye, and positioned the ipod to cover his face

point of the story: this shit isnt complex to us, but it confuses the crap out of some people…

oh, and i have a new use for my ipod/watch

I don’t have a clue what a homecoming gig is :confused:

But if it’s a night that everyone will go out and get mashed anyway then whay pay loads for a big name?

Fancy flyers and posters and I bet it’s still rammed with dj peckhead on the decks - and $30k profit in the bank

according to wikipedia it’s something between a prom and a frat boy party… neither of which requires a big name DJ at the decks. dancefloor-wise a big EDM name will probably achieve the exact opposite of what you intended :slight_smile:
