KitSound KSDJ DJ Headphones
I read the reviews from people who were Sennheiser HD 25 II owners giving the KSDJ cans very positive reviews.. So I decided to purchase a set because they were peanuts = £22 from Amazon.
On delivery i opened them up and was fairly impressed with build quality and versatility of movement. The 50mm drivers were evident making them a weighty set of cans. The headband was not well suited to the weighty drivers because it slips off due to slippery surface and not contouring to the shape of your head, but no real problem there. They can be used in almost any position due to swivel cups which were spring loaded.
The jack is a work of art which is also spring loaded to reduce wear, and has a screw off adapter to use on an iPod or iPhone, etc.
On powering them up on both the iphone and Denon MC-6000 I noticed very quickly why they have had such rave reviews. The sound is amazing. Not too basey but the kick is there. All frequencies can be heard perfectly so are good for monitoring. The closed cups do a good job at stopping ambient sound entering.
All was going good up until 2 weeks into the relationship when I was cueing a track and noticed a horrible resonance in the left driver. I initially thought it was either the baseline on the actual track or the controller - but after swapping for my other cans I found out it was the KSDJs.
The quote “You get what you pay for” comes to mind.
It is a shame because they had the makings to be the secret bargain workhorse cans that most people would buy to bash about with no worry.
I am returning them to Amazon for a refund.
