I’ve been DJing a while now (mainly house tunes) and am looking to upgrade my current controller (Vestax Typhoon). I’m interested in trying to do some more remixes on the fly using Traktor, as well as playing with the effects settings and cue point juggling, and I’m torn between getting an S2, or a VCI-100.
I couldn’t quite work it out based on the shots on the net, but am I right in thinking the VCI doesn’t have an on board sound card? Also, I would take you up on buying that VCI, but I’m based in the UK. Sorry fella!
The VCI-100 fits into a 15" computer bag without any issues. The S2 is larger than that.
I have a VCI-100 Arcade Edition. I have yet to experiment with the v4 mapping…but even after a year of practice it is still way more controller than I can really use. I use an Audio 2 external sound card…so it’s not really an issue.
Even with that, I still drool over the S2. I do really like that the S2 has balanced outputs. I like having two FX sections. I am less concerned about the filter knob…but that is one of the knobs that I do turn from time to time.

The only thing the VCI has going for it these days is really the build - metal Vs plastic, but the S2 genuinely feels solid everything is in the correct logical place.
