Kontrol S8 + single jogwheel dj midi controller: which?

I’m waiting for the Kontrol S8 to come out.
Looks like it got all the bells and whistles I wanna have.
Though… I’d miss a solid scratch option.

So, I’m asking u guys, which single jogwheel dj midi controller would u recommend next to the Kontrol S8?

Atm, I think the DJ Tech CDJ-101 is a great alternative, though I don’t have any experience with these units.
Feedback welcome!

I woudn’t call those 101’s “a solid scratch option”, mate… They’re only 5" in diameter - very small…

Other suggestions of jogwheel units are welcome!

What about:
-S4 Mk2
-X1 Mk2
-F1

Done!

These S4 MK2 jogwheels are actually smaller than 5".
Bigger = better, if u ask me.

And no displays on the unit itself, which is THE reason I want the S8.

Man, yeah, that’s a great question.

Is it safe to reckon the S8 should work with DVS?

I wouldn’t assume it.

Technics 12s if it’s scratch certified…

No it’s not. Responsiveness is better. Bigger is just preferable.
The jogwheels on the S4 are incomparably better than those on the ones posted above.

I think all the Native Instruments products are better responsiveness-wise with Traktor due the usage of HID.
Tell if i’m wrong.

Anyways, for a bargain of €25 with 3 years warranty, I just ordered 2x CDJ-101 here: http://www.thomann.de/nl/dj_tech_cdj_101_dj_controller.htm

I’ll let u guys know, how they work when I did some testing - To be continued.

Size doesn’t matter, skill does:

I’m surprised no one is recommending the Denon SC2000…

I owned a Denon MC3000, which was suprisingly fun and great to work with. Breathed quality. :+1:

I just realise that the Denon SC2000 is like a Kontrol X1, but with Jog-dials :expressionless:
Looks interesting enough, but a bit of over-kill.
All the extra’s are on-board the S8 already.

The FX sections might be overkill, but you’ll get an actual big platter and the faders will be in an appropriate position unlike horizontal like the DJ-Techs.

They’re pretty cheap used.

Great advice, thanks.

Speaking on behalf of a DJ Tech product owner (myself) I wouldnt buy a Gold Plated anything from them. The customer service a DJ Tech is non-exsistant so I hope you have no problems if you buy their gear.

Those little CDJ things look like pre school toys for kids
