Korg Nanopad vs Akai LPD8

So Ive been thinking about buying cheap controller for traktor to launch hot cues, loops and such stuff.
These two have about the same price, so I can’t decide which to get.
Also, I am planing to start to learn Ableton, so which would be better?

I would choose the Akai purely for the Pots.

akai all the way, the korg’s build quality is quite poor

I cant vouch for the nanopad, but I have a LPD8 and its a really well built bit of kit. The only slight negative is that the knobs are a little short in height, but this is for portability.

Nanopad is pure crap,
I bought 1 unit, replaced by another defect unit.
Decide to replace by LPD8. Happy

Ok guys, I’m convinced. Its gonna be lpd8.
But you talk bad stuff about Korg, is it Korg in generally or just this piece?
I really love that Kaoss Pad 3, is it worth any?

The Kaoss Pad 3 is flat out fantastic.

I have a LPD8 and my friend has a KORG nanopad, I also have a KP3.

LPD8 Is amazing but the first one I had broke randomly one day, just stopped working. Luckily I have a warranty so I get a free one :slight_smile:. Since then it has been working perfectly.

The nanopad is awesome, but only for the XY pad. The pads are MUCH better on the lpd8(and they light up!), and it feels loosely put together, you could snap the thing in half easy.

The KP3 Is amazing(with OS v.2) but if you want to do pure sampling the roland Sp-555 has 16 pads instead of 4, so that’s better for creating an entire set of samples in front of you. The XY is fluid and using it as a midi controller is great too.

lpd8 wins hands down. I have them both, but the korg is not quite as well built as the akai. I went though three nanopads already while the lpd8 just keeps on doing its job… the ribbon controller on the nanopad is fun though. they work well as a pair.

The lpd8 was one of my smartest pickups. $50 for a strong, reliable and functional pad.

Awesome, I just ordered a nanopad last night (I had $20 in best buy bucks that expire in a few days, and I wanted a cheap pad controller). I actually wanted the Akai, but they didn’t carry it. C’est la vie

I would go with the LPD8 it is very good quality, ive heard the nanopad was a waste of money and time and it looks very cheap quality
