So i have two krk rokit 6 monitors and a komplete audio 6 sound card
running two balanced connections with the TRS connection NOT XLR
the right one always has like a muffled scratchy noise when i turn the volume up or down when there is nothing playing. im not sure if its a loose connection but i disconnected everything and connected everything again, and it still has that little noise…
use better cables or try isolating it from other electronical devices. (with balanced XLR you should be all good but remember if u plug a balanced cable into something that aint fully balanced its better to use unbalanced aka a simple RCA cable.
This is the downside of poorly shielded magnetic field speakers.
My advice, ditch the KRKs. get passive speakers and a nice amplifier:slight_smile:
Swap the left and right cables going in to the speakers. If the problem moves to the other speaker, the issue is before the speaker in the signal chain. If the problem stays at the speaker, the problem is in the speaker itself.
If the problem moves, then swap the cables completely. If the problem moves, the issue is one of the cables.
If after the above troubleshooting the problem still doesn’t move, The issue is in your sound card or your computer.
