So.. The laptop. I was planning on using to play out of the house I tried out finally last night with tractor. It playsq the songs fine, loads fine, most everything fine… But once I start to mess with my controls, especially the one that controls the track selection, the audio stutters with every turn… What kinda tweaks can I do to maybe fix this or make my pc/software function better.. Can’t afford to upgrade.
I also mixing with a S2.
..and I’d put my pc specs but I’m in a lecture right now.
Thanks
::::edit:::::
here are the specs on my laptop I’m using..
have a read of this, it will get your laptop running pretty much as good as it will, but the specs are pretty important, could do with knowing what youre using?
Why not wait till you are finished your lecture and post the specs? Do you call the mechanic and say … “my car broke down, whats wrong with it?” without telling him at least the make and model ?
Because I was hoping this might be familiar to someone and get an idea of what could be the problem or a fix, perhaps In traktor settings or something. I’ll post specs later if I can’t find a cure before
Windows XP (latest Service Pack, 32 Bit), Windows Vista/Windows 7 (latest Service Pack, 32/64 Bit),
Intel Pentium 4 2.4 GHz or Intel Core Duo or AMD Athlon 64, 2 GB RAM
Someone will tell you they run Traktor on a Texas Speak n Spell but the point is that not all laptops are created equally and yours, its underpowered im afraid.
welll crap.. I ran the the first traktor pro fine… and pro 2 works most the time, just except when i do too much as once i spose.. well crap. =/ any ways I can maybe boost performance or ensure its at its best basically?
I was planning on registering on that forum too but havn’t had the time since purchasing my controller/software. I’ll probably try to get some more specific help over there, thanks
also there was a video that someone on here sent me a link to, showing how to change core settings on processor (ie: allow both cores to run upto 100%), and sort out lots of other niggly issues, but i cant find it, if anyone remembers it help me out
on RAM.. I’ve had up to 2 in here once, ill put those chips in again. I know I can go up to 8, but ive heard using more RAM than my computer is made for/can handle can actually do bad things for my computer? is that true?
Your laptop will only accept certain kinds of RAM and will also specify the maximum amount you can upgrade to. HPs are generally good machine’s but these specs indicate a machine that’s more than 2 years old. I am guessing you can upgrade to 2GB or possibly 4GB. Your laptop manual will tell you what you can upgrade to. Do not go over that or try using RAM other than what’s supported by your system.
If you really went to town you could probably get Win7 down to burning around 550MB of RAM (with no apps running). If you coupled that with any upgrade to at least 2GB (and ideally 4GB) you should start seeing improvements.
that and processor, upgrade your ram and get rid of everything you dont need, follow all the steps above and youll definately see improvements, may not be amazing but better.
Not at all. Your biggest issue is an under-powered PC. RAM just happens to be one thing you can do to improve performance with Traktor. The CPU you reference is slower and it’s likely that you also have a bunch of programs, drivers and services that are eating up what resources you do have. Traktor is a hungry little panda and wants those resources to itself.
There are dozens and dozens of threads on this and you’d do well to spend a few hours reading them. There’s nothing we could cover here that hasn’t been covered before. If search on SmiTTTen you will find a bunch of stuff.
you shouldn’t even be running windows 7 with 1.5 gb ram mate. 4gb+ highly recommended!
At the very least:
Disable all network drivers
Disable ACPI.sys
Disable Card Reader
Disable CD Rom
Turn Off themes
Use Smitten’s Script to kill processes in one hit or download gamebooster 3 and use it in combination.
Not true, factor restores are riddled with additional software and services that don’t come as standard with a clean Windows install. Seriously, there’s huge amounts of info on this on this forum. I think I even did a factory restore versus clean install comparison on here. Come back to us if you have any really specific questions.
