After some RGAS (2 new CDJ2000 Nexus’ and a Denon X-1600), parting with some of my hard earned sterling, a trip to Ikea and taking masses of inspiration from DJTT for a homemade desk I present to you Lineypirate’s new look for 2013…
The main desk is a Sefour unit I’ve had for years. To make the shelf, I took the largest LACK shelf from Ikea and wall mounted it, supported to the desk with some of the straight CAPITA legs. The other desk is a MIKA computer desk with the doors left off for some vinyl storage, with an AMON tabletop mounted on some adjustable angled CAPITA brackets to bring everything to a similar height. The gap between the MIKA desk and the tabletop afford me some hiding space for the stereo amp, a powered USB hub and a router for Rekordbox.
I have a lot of records full of accapellas and beats that I like to sample, using the Audio 8, straight into Ableton.
I mostly use the TT’s for Traktor really, or mixing normal records. When playing DVS I use Traktor to provide a clock to Ableton so I can use the APC to trigger samples or jam along with a synth if I’m feeling especially groovy
Not really, I like fettling around with things myself! Although if I’m really stuck, a quick search on YouTube always helps.
All my audio in/outs are handled by my Audio 8 into my mixer and syncing Ableton to Traktor so everything is in time is either set by the MIDI clock on the mixer (useful for if your mixing vinyl and still want everything in time), or by Traktor, using Traktors virtual MIDI out.
If you need any advice setting anything up, don’t be afraid to ask!
