Ok have seen things called midi boxes could these be used to say link 2 laptops together so one is master sending tempo to slave
laptop1>Abelton>midibox<traktor<laptop2
i was looking at a soundcard with midi i/o but if this can work will be alot cheaper and go down this route if anyone has done this or has any input please let me know
Not sure about the item your talking about. But in this Video Richie Hawtin talks about running 2 laptops. 1 with traktor pro running 4 decks and 1 running effects.
I think you’re talking about a Midi Thru box, Check out some of the stuff at www.midisolutions.com
But really if you just want to send something like midi clock data from one computer to another, there are much easier ways to do this.
The way i would go about it would be to get a program like…
These programs send midi over LAN.
Then get a ethernet crossover cable, this allows one computer to connect to another over lan without the use of a HUB/router.
Then you’ve got midi communication between 2 computers, without using up precious USB ports.
ive recently done this with 2 different friends of mine. both of them run ableton.
if you have a midi interface in your audio interface (i have an audio kontrol 1) you can do if over midi. BUT the traktor rig must be the master. for some reason it doesnt work otherwise. there was a full tutorial on it in future music a few months ago (i think it was FM).
any midi interface should work i guess…
read the manual on how to set traktor pro as the master. its under clock master - external mode and midi clock send.
