Hi.
First, let me introduce.
I’m Matthew from Croatia. I just love electronic music and after I finish highschool I’m going to SAE Institute to study Audio Engineering.
And then after I’ll produce my own music.
After that, ofcourse I’ll do live shows.
This is the interesting part. I don’t want to use the classic DJ setup, example: 4CDJ-2000 and DJM-2000, I would love to use something like deadmau5, Madeon etc.
I want to use: Ableton (as production DAW and for the live shows), iPad (some MIDI app, like touchOSC), Allen & Heath K2, for effects and stuff and Novation Launchpad (for the songs ofcourse).
And yeah, my question is, what do you think about this setup, would you add something new or remove something? Feel free to answer
And after that, of course you will be famous and make lots of money, right?! I see you’re ambitious but I feel you just didn’t strike the right note for this forum… Probably not intended though.
Anyway:
Why do you want to buy the K2? Do you plan to use its built-in-soundcard?
Sure, you don’t want to buy an external soundcard to have more options?
Apart from that:
Ever thought about about the APC20 for the song and clip launching part or the Behringer 2000 to have more knobs for volume, filter, EQ or FX tweaking?
Just a few ideas…
If you will be able to run your proposed setup with the K2-built-in sound card everything should work properly. You will have to do some mapping work, of course.
You should probably start from something semi basic to get your hold on stuff (basic as in what you absolutely need, not basic as in very cheap since you’ll end up changing it anyway)… Maybe an APC 40 at first with an audio 2dj which won’t break the bank too much. Only when exploiting the most out of your setup should you think about adding some more stuff. If you already have an ipad then obviously use it, but don’t go all out buying stuff you’ll probably won’t need or won’t find use for. So start from a basic point and then start building your setup on what you need.
