Logic 8 VS Logic 9
Hey all, Im currently trying to pick up a 2nd hand copy of logic 8 or 9..
Is it worth paying an extra £60+ for logic 9? or would I better off investing that extra money in other plugins/synths?
Thanks in advance

Yo, logic 9 has a great set of new instruments and effects as well as flex time, which is just brilliant if you do any sort of sampling. Really intuitive to use, and you can lock breaks and instrument samples in within a few moments. You can also get really creative with ‘flex markers’ which you can use to stretch things about in the same way you would use Ableton’s ‘warp markers’.
Hope that helps, i went through the same process recently. Also if you know any students, they can buy you a brand new copy of Logic 9 for £122 from the web store if they log in from their uni, and I’m pretty sure over the phone as well.
Cheers,
Rj
i was a bit frustrated with 9, but in a few minutes that was over and now I love the changes!
9 is nice!
Hopefully ill be a Logic 9 user pretty soon. Just skint myself on other studio stuff but Logic is on my list next.
As ive got 2 25" monitors for my Dell desktop i was thinking of getting a Mac Mini.
Any thoughts on Mac Minis guys..?
i do all of my productions on a MacMini that is 2 years old. Running Logic Studio 9. Just watch the plugin count, and you’re fine (though I’ve never personally run out of plugins) Its easy to manage the CPU usage.
…and to answer the question. Get Logic 9 either Express or Studio, you can’t lose. Flextime is worth every penny.
flex time will change your life.
Here’s the benchmark for multicore apples.
I’m a really big fan of the guitar pedal plug-in.
Thats a big added bonus to Logic Pro 9, in my opinion.
