LOL Zunes all over the world committing mass suicide

I hope Iphone doesn’t start drinkin the Zune Punch .

Baffled consumers are griping about a mysterious glitch that appeared to cause thousands of Zune music players to simultaneously stop working late Tuesday and early Wednesday.

Internet message boards have been flooded with complaints about Zune’s 30GB models freezing, prompting Y2K-like speculation about end-of-year hardware or software problems.

“It seems that every Zune on the planet has just frozen up and will not work,” posted a Mountain Home, Idaho, user on CNN’s iReport.com. “I have 3 and they all in the same night stopped working.”

Another iReporter said he was working the night shift at a Toys R Us store in Puerto Rico when his Zune player and the Zunes of four co-workers all failed about 1:30 a.m. ET Wednesday.

“It froze and there was no way to turn it off so you just have to wait until the batteries went dead. You can’t push any buttons or anything,” Carlos Colon told CNN. Colon said he owns a first-generation 30GB model.

Other users report their Zunes reboot but freeze when the startup status bar reaches 100 percent. A post on Zune.net titled “Help-frozen zune!!!” had attracted more than 19,000 comments by Wednesday afternoon.

Some Zune users have dubbed the crisis “Y2K9” or “Z2K9,” a reference to New Year’s Eve and concerns over potential widespread computer failures on January 1, 2000 – fears that proved unfounded.

Zune users were still trying to discover the cause of the problem Wednesday afternoon.

Microsoft Corp., maker of the Zune, posted this statement Wednesday morning on the Zune Web site: “Customers with 30gb Zune devices may experience issues when booting their Zune hardware. We’re aware of the problem and are working to correct it. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for your patience!”

Contacted Wednesday morning by e-mail, a Zune spokeswoman said, “We are actively working now to isolate the issue and develop a solution to address it. We will keep customers informed on next steps via the support page on www.zune.net (zune.net/support).”

Microsoft released its first Zune 30GB music player, a competitor to Apple’s popular iPod, in 2006. No widespread glitches have been reported this week in its second-generation 80GB or 120GB models.

Opps they did it again!

Why did i get a zune…why did i get a zune…why did i get a zune…

That goes though my head almost daily…

LOL it’s really crazy because I love my Xbox but I wouldn’t trade my Ipod or Iphone for a Zune ever .

If they would just allow me to sync my music the way i wanted to we wouldnt be haveing a problem.

Their whole concept of “hey lets organize your music for you” dosnt work when i have spent countless hours organizing it myself…the way i like it!

Ok im good now lol

The Zune was a joke since day one, I thought it was pretty cool that it had a FM tuner, and sharing you music with other zune user, but that would be dj’s worst nightmare! For Track-Biter!

Xbox…blah, PS3 baby! Why? Its plays divx, dvdr, Linux, BluRay, WiFi, and wait, Free online play!

…Sorry didnt mean to hijack…

Lol no prob bro. Yeah I don’t get that in depth with my Xbox . I just like to play games and watch DVDs and do netflix streaming on it every once in a while . Which reminds me I have to buy a couple more controllers for my New Years day festivities .

Nice. This explains what Ive been seeing while checking up on my Twitter and Twinkle accounts. Quite a few Zune users posting complaints on there.

The problem is only with the 2006 30 gig model. It will be fixed tomorrow when the date changes.

lol what a fuck up!

zune 30 faq

My Zune 30 is frozen. What should I do?

Follow these steps:

Disconnect your Zune from USB and AC power sources.
Because the player is frozen, its battery will drain—this is good. Wait until the battery is empty and the screen goes black. If the battery was fully charged, this might take a couple of hours.
Wait until after noon GMT on January 1, 2009 (that’s 7 a.m. Eastern or 4 a.m. Pacific time).
Connect your Zune to either a USB port on the back or your computer or to AC power using the Zune AC Adapter and let it charge.
Once the battery has sufficient power, the player should start normally. No other action is required—you can go back to using your Zune!

My Zune 30 has been working fine today. Should I be worried?

Nope, your Zune is fine and will continue to work as long as you do not connect it to your computer before noon GMT on January 1, 2009 (7 a.m. Eastern or 4 a.m. Pacific time).

Note: If you connect your player to a computer before noon GMT on January 1, 2009, you’ll experience the freeze mentioned above—even if that computer does not have the Zune software installed. If this happens, follow the above steps.

What if I have rights-managed (DRM) content on my Zune?

Most likely, rights-managed content will not be affected by this issue. However, it’s a good idea to sync your Zune with your computer once the freeze has been resolved, just to make sure your usage rights are up to date.

What if I took advice from the forums and reset my Zune by disconnecting the battery?

This is a bad idea and we do not recommend opening your Zune by yourself (for one thing, doing so will void your warranty). However, if you’ve already opened it, do one of the following:

Wait 24 hours from the time that you reset the Zune and then sync with your computer to refresh the usage rights; or
Delete the player’s content using the Zune software (go to Settings, Device, Sync Options, Erase All Content), then re-sync it from your collection.

mine is fixed…

mine as well.

thank god that I have bought myself an ipod touch
