Looking for a Kontrol S8
yeah so my lust has finally turned toward an S8…haha. I thought I had cured myself of RGAS. (well i had for a while at least)
I know they are still pretty new, and I could just go buy one, but I wanted to put a feeler to see if I could take one off somebody’s hands who was tired of it. Figure i’d check here first.
against my own judgement i ended up getting an s8 over a mixer x1 combo, and im pretty siked on it, mostly. for one the footprint isnt as big as people make it out to be, coming in a mere 5.5 inches wider than a DJM900. its a nice tight integrated unit for traktor heads, however: if you are the type of person that likes to settle into a controller and slowly customize things about the layout to suit your needs, or straight up home brew your own maps, id stay away, at least until they develop an update that allows for some mapping to be done. It really is a pretty nice unit for the price, and a lot of fun to use, but i cant use it as my main controller without an update or using a secondary controller, which defeats the purpose of the all in one aspect. so i was kind of let down myself, but not so much i want to sell it lol.
but if you never mess with the mapping end and can satisfy yourself with factory mappings, youd probably love it.
p.s. i know you werent asking for a review, but i thought id chip in my .02.
i am using an X1/mixer combo. and i feel like im pretty much using the basic functions of the S8, i can manually mix the hell out of some tracks with the touch strip, so i think i can do some pretty cool cool stuff with the S8
its a sweet unit im not gonna lie, if it wasnt for the mapping issue id be shouting S8 from the nearest mountain top lol..

lol yes, but that was to keep up the cdj skills, i want to start getting really creative with some tech house on the S8
