Lately I’ve just been mashing all sorts of genres of music together. Usually ends up sounding with a triphop feel, mixed with a little half time drum and bass rhythms and soul samples… with samples just chopped and diced and rearranged.
As of late, I’ve been doing alot of vocal chopping. I really enjoy it…
I for one cant sing or rap… so I chop up sounds and vocal phrases and play them out like an instrument. I’ll drum out 16 or 32 bars as my ‘verse’… Alot of mixing and matching goin on to find out what goes good with the beat… ultimately the words/vocals arent supposed to mean anything… sometimes it ends up sounding like words, which is pretty cool…
I guess its my way of ‘singing’ ..LOL
