M-Audio JC2000

M-Audio JC2000

I have recently become very inspired by Mr Anthony More`s VCI mod, to mash the m-audio xsession up!

I call it a battle controller… 2 people can stand on either side of the unit and have control over 3 channels 1 of which has a phono preamp. 4 pads and 3 arcade bottons. All the while sharing browse function and master crossfader… Or stand in front of the unit and keep all 6 channels to yourself, mapping the controller how ever you want.

aside from the controls you see, I also plan on including 2 stereo INs (with phono preamp), 2 stereo OUTS, 3 USB ports, 2 headphone ports.

Ive hit a snag parts shopping though; I can not seem to find pads anywhere. I emailed M-Audio support to see if they sell replacement pads for the trigger finger or axioms, but have not heard from them yet… Anyone have any idea where I can find such a thing

here`s a look at the first sketch… couple of things are subject to change, not sure yet. tell me what you think

That mod wont be possible with a single unit, you would have to put multiple units into the same enclosure - is that what your planning to do ?

Yes it is designed around 2 separate Xsession units and a Connectiv inside one enclosure. I have very little electronics experience at this point, so I am not sure if building from scratch would be a better idea or not. I will learn as I go though!

I was just trying to round up a parts list of what I would need if I decided to build from scratch and an approx price. I dont really care if this project costs me 2000 and takes me 2 years to be honest… My current setup spans 4 pieces of hardware and uses the same amount of controls (minus browsing controls). So I figured I could design something to incorporate everything I need, with a user friendly lay-out, in one enclosure…

Cool concept. Maybe look at longer pitch faders. Also try the korg nano pad. might be able to pull them out and use them instead of the m-audio pads.

I had already thought about that option! but are you really not going to use the other 4 pads and 1 x/y pad? The unit is quite large already and barely fit into my bag as is… heh

but ya def an interesting option, thanks!
