M4L - show of hands

Hey guys, looking for a show of hands about users using/wanting/planning to use M4L (Max for live)

Perhaps with a bit of show of hands people can make some new friends in this group

Personally i have had M4L for about a month now and i’m really digging it, look forward to becoming a m4l guru.

I haven’t made too much yet but i am currently nearly complete with my first proper patch which is a dj style 3 band equalizer, with kill switches, adjustable frequency cutoff points and also includes 2 filters in one knob like in Traktor(except this patch has a user adjustable resonance). Once i have put on the finishing touches ill release the patch as i know just how damn hard it is to find a good 3 band DJ style EQ - if anyone owns M4L and wishes to beta test just let me know and ill shoot out a copy of the patch soon

done

I plan on using M4L. Have not made the purchase yet but I will most like pick up in the next few months.

I want to know what is M4L better…
What is the possibilities, what people are doing with it…
You should write an article to DJTT Bento, or interview some M4L DJ guru.
I see you are really engaged with M4L and I’m getting interested because of that…

…

I have it and learning for better turntable integration.

…

I am going to handle the MaxMsp related articles so you will undoubtibly be clued up soon

So could you basically make a full DJ interface and create it the way you want it???..without typing any code?..I don’t really know what it is.

…

Cool.

…

Cant wait Bento, a series of articles of this would be awesome!

Untill then, I will only ever use Traktor / Virtual DJ / Mixxx / Torq / DjDecks / Deckadance / some other program. I roughly understand how M4L works, but i would really like a good djtt review. Then I can give my voice.

Still looking for testers for my EQ 3 / filter gimme a PM and ill shoot it over.

The filter needs a little work but i am getting there, not long yet !

I wont pay 300 for a program i would use primarily for advanced midi mapping.

EDIT: I would be interested in reading you articles Bento. Do you think it would be possible to create cleaner looking smart mixer with M4L?

…

Like this?

…

Yes  Except it seems that that device is still a concept

I don’t understand what m4l is I’ll be honest. All I hear is ableton patch, m4l patch etc!

Is it just so you can make your own vst’s?

Yes it will be possible

And ill be working on this, it will be more than just a “concept” device too, it will be a fully functioning device with better visual feedback.

Nor does it have the correct controls to do smartmixing properly

Glad to hear you’re on it Bento. Maybe I’ll look into m4l after that  They should really just give the runtime for non-patching users.

I agree, some sort of cheaper version for users who dont modify patches would be totally awesome. Or some sort of site people can sell their m4l patches on, ableton and cycling 74 get a cut on the sales which in term is payback for all the hardwork they have put into this.

…

If you are registered you could download…

I think the same but I don’t expect it because few facts:
Propietary solutions like Apc40 and serato the Bridge will be less interesting, maybe…
Use runtime with Live intro will be great (but I don’t expect neither)
Top rating web with cool patches will be maybe “unpredecible”… (think in LiveApi success of monome comunity i.e.)
Ableton/Cycling are selling “full” because Cycling drop pluggo by the way… imagine make it free, not sales for Cycling, only Live win…

Don’t expect a runtime, Cycling will not want it and Ableton maybe neither…
