Actually, I use that in Ableton Live to add synth parts occasionally. I don’t do it enough to warrant bringing an actual controller, but using my keyboard like that is just about perfect for what I want.

PC’s can do the same. Nothing to do with whether its Windows or OSX but rather a feature built within the DAW.
Ableton, FL Studio, Logic, Garage Band etc.. are among those capable of it.

I couldn’t possibly disagree more. Besides, apart from a couple tiny things that technically break POSIX compliance, OS X is unix, which makes it flat-out better than Windows for everything except delaying the eventuality that computers achieve consciousness and kill us all.
