Macbook Pro 2.2 vs. 2.5 processor?

Macbook Pro 2.2 vs. 2.5 processor?

So I’m looking at 2 15" Macbook Pros.
One is used for $1700 with a 2.5 Quad Core Processor/512 GB SSD/16GB RAM.
The other is new for $1600 with a 2.2 Quad Core Processor/256 GB SSD/16GB RAM.
Which would be best if I’m using it for Ableton + other software? I’m using a 2011 MBP now, and it works fine. Just looking for something beefier with a bigger screen.

2.5 is bigger than 2.2, and 512 is bigger than 256.

And $1700 is ONLY $100 bigger than $1600. If you’re gonna drop that kind of money, an extra £100 shouldn’t matter that much, surely?

My bad, the used one is $1800. Key word: used. Still go for it? Also, the new one comes with a year of Apple Care.

I’d go for the higher priced one just for the expanded storage. The CPU bump shouldn’t make that much of a difference but double check if these have dual graphics cards, the ones that do tend to feel quite smoother when you need it.

I’m using a 2012 2.7 i7 MBP I bought a year or so ago and it runs like a champ. When buying used either go pick it up and test it on the spot or use a safe payment method you can use as a backup if the item isn’t exactly as listed.

The Second hand unit is only $200 less than a similarly spec’d Factory Refurb units direct from Apple (which come with warranty) - so not exactly a great deal.

The graphics will make bugger all difference, the processor either - the storage hit is pretty big though if you have massive libraries.

Personally with the current run of completely non-user-servicable Macs I’d either go with a new model and the warranty or pony up an extra $200 for the higher spec Factory Refurb and Applecare on either before the year is out.

My iMac’s logic board failed after 12 months 10 days :rage:

Ended up getting a new 15" 2.5 GHZ/512 SSD for $1700.

It’s not that simple RE CPUs. What generation is it? i5 of i7?

It’s an i7. The seller actually retracted the sale. So now I’m looking at a new 2.2 i7/256 SSD for $1250. What say you?

What year MBP is it? You need to weigh up how old it is and compare it to similar spec modern MBP to see if it’s worth it.

It’s new, 2016. Sold out though before I could grab it.
