macbook pro or windows laptop for making music / djing?
Have a VAIO VGNFE31 M at the moment. Two years old, using it for work, so wish to invest in something purely for music and DJing.
Would love any advice or tips. Have looked at Logic and Ableton for composing.

let the battle begin…i prefer apple. either are good, its all personal preference.
I use both, PC & Mac, I prefer my MB for Traktor. But it comes down to how much money you have to kill. Keep an eye out for discounted MB & MBP the prices are under 1k
Logic won’t work on a PC
Yeap the answer is pretty simple:
Want to use Logic, go mac!
Want to use Cubase go PC or you could chose mac for that as well.
Mind you the variety of VST’s are much larger on PC! 
I would go Mac, but thats just me.

Wow, I think this is the most civil MB/PC discussion I’ve ever seen. We win!
I’m a PC user. I’d recommend them. You get more bang for your buck, and if you use em right they’ll go strong for a while.
But in the end it can simply be a discussion of what you want to use. If you want to use Logic for all it’s power you need a mac. If you’re open to different DAW softwarez then you can shop around more.
If the workflow on a mac isn’t your thing it answers this question kinda quickly too. Whereas if the systems in Windows don’t work in your mind than Mac is the way the go.
I’m materialistic and a fanboy so I need a MacBook Pro.
Plus I love how the logo lights up on the back of the screen.

Oh no worries, Chilly. I expect mac fan boys to talk about how awesome every aspect trivial aspect of the Mac is.
I just bought a new Macbook Pro and I am loving every minute of it. I was a PC user up until I bought the MBP but I can now confirm I am a Mac user from here on in.
I love everything about the MBP from the styling to the quality and stableness of the Mac OS.
I highly recommend it!

But all jokes aside, I would wait off for a bit until the new touch screen laptops pick up, Rumor has it a Mac Tablet is coming out and there are some PC that a pretty good on the market already.
Yeah given a good enough processor a tablet pc would be awesome - just a shame they arnt multi-touch.

im in the market for a new computer and looking at mac book pro has only two usb ports only:eek: never owned a mac before can you install audio cards
and midi controllers on a usb hub? can it handle it?
