Macbook Pro Question

Macbook Pro Question

Hey guys

So my Asus laptop is already getting a failed hard drive sign (whirring and clicking on load up and then fading down). I am going to talk to them in about 30 minutes about the RMA process and I’m going to give them one more chance before I start getting pissed and wanting my money back or a straight up replacement.

My main three points in getting this machine was cost (Around $2,000) hard drive size (two 320gig 7200rpm SATA drives) and size (17" wide screen HD). Now, if the hard drive fails this does me no good.

I’ve been considering the Macbook Pro 17" but it’s going to cost me an extra $1000. I was wondering if a hard drive can be added to double the space to 640gigs, cause they don’t offer this on the site and I don’t want to have to carry an external hard drive around with me just to DJ. Backup is great and all, but I want to have to use as few plugs and USB ports as possible.

So yeah, fill me in.

From what I have seen the MBP only have 1 HD, if you need to hook up a HD the best route is going with a firewire HD. Plus if you HD fails you can always create boot from the firewire HD

Well, yeah, that’s what I figured. Dunno. 20 minutes and ASUS gets a call from me (damn West Coast time zones making me wait)

hey what did the west coast do to you? I have to deal @ work central time for my cases & the bank systems are on east coast time!

It’s gotta speed up and catch up to the East Coast. I don’t have the patience to wait around for 3 hours for YOU guys to open, geeze.

Lazy bastards

damn straight after I left my post @ 8:47 am I took another nap for 1hr 30mins!

But are you seriously considering getting a MBP? I would try to get my hands on a new discontinued model being that they had a nice price drop and tax season is in effect.

1 HDD.

Get an old model 17" or 15.4". They go for way cheaper and are mad decent.

Tho a nice new 17" MBP would fucking own!

how can i tell if i’m looking at old mbooks or new ones .. what are the differences ?

I love the power of the new MBP, but hate how the look. I think once I get my hands on one, I would change my mind

But Mr Moley Mole, here you go
old MBP

new MBP (the one on the right is a MB not a pro)

ahthankyou

How much should you be able to pick an old one up for now ? Roughly?

Ive seen the 15" as low as 900 & the 17" for 1100.

what is the biggest 2.5" drive there is? If there is a TB one, then you can build that inside! (Well, you could) Im gonna replace my drive inside my old MBP

There are definitely TB 2.5" drives

USD i take it ?

I’m in the Uk … will have a dig on ebay and see what i can find

I wouldn’t mind having the regular MB on the right man…

I would kill to have an all black 13" or 15"

I recommend craiglist a buyer who cant a seller can go pretty low

Yeah I craigslist is also good, and if you get bored you can browser the personal ad’s they are funny as f@#k!

I seem to remember something different about the new 17" macbook pro, either you couldn’t replace the battery, the HD or both?

Wasn’t that the Macbook air?
