MacBook Pro!!!! Which one ?

the blue one?

odd they’re removing the dvd drive given they already have the ultra slim air’s. when choosing between the mbp or air it was dvd drive and extra usb ports that made me want to go for the mbp. plus u can always swap out the whole dvd drive for a hdd caddy if wanted. glad i picked up my 13" mbp when i did  just have the 4gb in mine and can’t see me needing more for a while - tho i may upgrade it sometime anyway. certainly not going to run out of cpu cycles any time soon - this machine is going to last a while…

Im in the market for a MBP so are you telling me to wait until they release the new models, when do they usually bring out the new models???

I jumped from a 1920x1080 Lenovo to a 13" MacBook Pro and this was my biggest concern… Now I dont see it as a problem, I can see fx and 4 decks in Traktor. If you try to show the advanced panel for both A+B and C+D at the same time, fx will be hidden, so I mapped a switch button on my controller to toggle between AB advanced and CD advanced. To look at the crate I use browsemode anyway and in Traktor Pro 2 it shows 4 minidecks at the top so you still can se if you run out of track.

The small size and the power of the computer is great, and lions multiple desktops with 3 finger swipe switching is awsome when you run programs in full screen mode.

that is a pretty awesome feature… been using it today to switch between traktor and ableton. i have the 13" mbp and traktor seems to fit ok. only really important things to be able to see in traktor is tracks for browsing and where in each track u are imho - as i’d rather be looking at and using controllers than the laptop screen. probably more important for the remix decks tho…

Hey I have Lion too but i cant 3 finger swipe from ableton to traktor. It works with all other apps just not those two. Any Idea why?

They have to both be open on different desktops unless the app is ML native fullscreen supported.

Also, I don’t like the idea of using my trackpad for most tasks during a gig, not reliable enough once things get sweaty and tapping a stop button somewhere by accident is not my idea of fun. I mapped a keystroke cmd+left/right arrow to a midi key (using midistroke) for switching desktops instead which works a charm

Awesome thanks for the help. Im a total mac noob, this being my first, so I haven’t really figured out all of OSX’s capabilities yet, I’m just stoked I can actually run traktor ableton and reason all at the same time, without having to see my old HP’s impersonation of a paperweight that is

I think you’re focussing on the wrong things here. Every recent generation MBP is perfectly capable of doing what you want, and will be for quite a while..

On the other hand, you’re planning to run 3 decks + sample decks + effects and seem to be set on an 13" laptop..

That’s really a lot for a 13" screen, some people in this thread said the considered even the 15" version not to be sufficient for that.
I mean, I know they are more expensive, but in the end there’s nothing more expensive than spending money on something that leaves you frustrated because you can’t really do what you want with it…

If money is an issue, there are other brands out there, that offer similar performance as the MBPs at a lower price point.
