Macbook soundcard issues

So I have had this problem for a while and have never really looked into it since I dont play for crowds. Basically when I am listening to any of my songs through traktor there is very apparent beat ‘stuttering’. Its not over pronounced, but it can be heard easily. Basically its only on the beat, so it kind of cuts the beat a bit short, so every once in a while you dont hear the ‘tap’ audio portion of the beat. Its hard to explain, just wondering if others have encountered this.

Also, when i record within traktor and listen to the track, these blemishes arent there…?

sounds like you possibly need to increase your latency settings within the audio setup portion of traktor?

Are you talking about the standard soundcard you are using?

What is your latency set to at present?

Yes, I am using the built in soundcard, latency is currently at 11.5 ms, which I am assuming is default?

Up your latency and keep testing the sound until it goes away. This is a noted weakness of internal soundcards.

what he said

I’m with the big man too!

Thanks guy, I have just never seen this discussed, and have very little knowledge about latency settings. I have made some changes and there is an improvement.

Cheers!

Consumer based sound cards aren’t build to process all the data that these DJ programs and DAWs require, so the latency kicks in and everything gets garbled. Even a cheap audio interface is a better option
