Making Electro - What should be my VST weapons of choice

All suggestions welcome, I’m really loving native instruments Massive, but what should I put on my shopping list next?!

FM Synthesis is a must for making electro basslines, Sytrus (built into FL Studio) is one of my favourites, Native Instruments FM8 is pretty powerful too, and I’ve heard good things about Ableton’s built in Operator.

You could also look at Sylenth1. People generally look at it as a ‘Trance’ synth but you can get some really dirty bass sounds out of it. Has some good modulation routing but nothing like massive.

Try to find a synth that contrasts you’re bass sounds from massive.

I am currently balls deep into omnisphere and luuuuuuurve it.

Not that I make electro, but Rob Papens Predator synth can make some pretty nasty and gnarly sounds that just scream and squelch that are still chunky as well. Worth looking into

And scoop up NI’s free Kore 2 player, they have some pretty awesome sounds on it as well, plus the extra Kore packs are cheap and expand on it even more. And you can use just as an FX unit so it’s ultra versatile. I use it on all my productions in some form or another

I also have kore but am kinda confused how to use it in logic. Could you expand on it a little bit for me so i could get an overview?

My tip is a simple one…don’t find a VST…try them (demo version) and decide by yourself. I also reccomend you to build some stuff from existing instrument…i use a lot of real bass instrument already in live 8 and then just use some fx to improve his rage!you know what i mean?

What don’t you get? Just load it up on a midi track and have at it, very easy to use actually
