Miami a DJ Paradise
Do you guys agree that Miami is the city to become a good and famous dj?
And I personally believe is due to the fact that Miami is a city that never sleep when it comes to clubs and bars…

I thought New York was the city that never slept?
All I know is Portland’s definitely not the city to >.<
Portland, OR is better then Tulsa, OK…i am willing to bet any amount of money on that lol
Follow these guys. They’re from OKC, but I think they may do a night or something in Tulsa.
Haha this may very well be true ![]()
Photojojo, who am I supposed to follow?
Famous DJ? Sounds like you in it for the wrong reasons. You can get started in any city, you just have to have a following, play good tunes, and be tru to yourself.
LOL, sorry
meh… I lived in Miami for 2 years, not all its cracked up to be. Bunch of shit local DJs playing mediocre music… I think if you are good it doesn’t matter where you live, you must produce and if you are good at that and djing then the DJ gigs will come!
The only thing I know about Miami DJ’s is what I see on Jersey Shore >.<
This.
I am a Miami native. There is an abundance of d-bag, shit, ego-driven DJs all over the place that get gigs because they can bring a crowd of people that know nothing more than what the “latest” tracks are or a fan page that has been spammed to hell.
Now I live in Gainesville (college). I can safely say that making a name for yourself in a college town is infinitely easier.
yes. who loves to party more than anyone? college kids.
Agreed, that’s where I started out! Too many memories of drunken DJing hahaha oh the good old days.
So true… I have had my share of bookings when I lived there, but there are just too many d-bags there. I prefer to play outside of where I live regardless, and outside teh US as much as possible. Also there was this one promoter who wanted to book me and in return I would get paid for my performance, but he also required me to make a tracks for him … ghey!
To be frank though, as full of d-bags Miami is filled with, there are DJs and producers that keep it real. They do not care about how big their fan page is or how many gigs they get. They are the ones that are happy with what they can do with what they can get. These are the kinds of people you can network with and will always have a “you help me, I help you” mindset.
Is Miami full of D-bag DJs? Certainly.
Are there DJ’s and Producers that are the complete opposite (as described above)? Definetely, albeit they are hard to come by.
it’s a cut throat big city, that is extremely superficial based not on what you are, but what you portray or can pretend to be, and that brings out TONS of hustlers if every industry not just music. I grew up there and live there…but honestly tons of big cities have this same mindset - miami is just a tad more glam.
It does however, make for some outrageously hot women and some great nights of partying.
that applies to every city.
true that!
If I lived in Miami, I’d be such a jaded, curmudgeonly prick and would have sworn myself out of playing clubs a long time ago.
People complain about the DJ business being a popularity contest in their town.
But that’s everywhere.
And then there’s Miami, where the DJ business is sickening unless you make the right friends and get lucky. I say go for it, but don’t be too butthurt if you don’t get what you want out of the industry as quickly as you might think you’ll get it there.
Thankfully I don’t live there. But South Beach does love clubbing, and the sound systems in some of those places are beyond belief. In North America, it’s one of the few places that treats house music as it’s treated in Europe.
miami all day baby
