Midi Controller for sample decks?

Midi Controller for sample decks?

Hey fellas (and ladies?)

Right now just have TSP + X1 to control 2 decks/looping/efx etc.

But I want to buy the TSP2 upgrade here and I’m wondering what controls are an absolute necessity for the sample decks? As of right now i was just looking for something with 8 buttons + 16 knobs but..slim pickings.

So far I have the following:

Xone 1D Price: ~400$

Upside - the jog could be used as my new track scroll and i could map the knobs on the X1 to scroll through crates/folders.
Downside - big/heavy. kind of pricey?

Faderfox LD2 + MidiFighter. Price: 150$ + 185$ = 335

Upside - - 16 knobs and good ol’ MF
Downside - 2 Units. Um…thats ..it?

Faderfox FX3 - 16 knobs + 16 buttons. Price: 330$
Upside - All in one package. Also looks like there is an infinite knob for track scrolling and some extra buttons to boot
Downside the buttons are kinda squashed between the knobs

Livid Instruments Code Price: 499$

Upside - What more could I possibly need? Also will integrate into me making the eventual move to Ableton. Looks bitchin =P
Downside Truly pricey. Big. Somewhat unnecessary for my current purposes?

I haven’t had the chance to muck about with TSP2 + the sample decks from what I see there’s a “play” button and 2 knobs, one being volume the other …? anything else im potentially missing?

I got me an x1 to do that job, pots for volume, encoders as browsing and loops(as the vanilla x1 mapping), bottom 16 as load from deck/list and play/stop

yea and will add the filter on shift + pots

wtf is the other knob in the Sample Decks for? that says “F” on it? Filter?? O.o

And i’ve thought about the X1 as well I have an odd feeling the printed “play” “cue” and whatnot on the buttons might eventually irritate me but I’m prolly just being a bitch about it, plus its freely adjustable/easily configured

Also thanks for the reply!

well, i was actually thinkin that way to, but with some led feedback on the buttons it became easyer, and I actually considerd painting the buttontopside black, but i need to use it live for a while first to see how it feels

Korg nanokontrol. You get a fader and a knob per sample. ta da.

Korgnano kontrol 2

ooooh yeah. forgot about that range

Mpd 24 ?

Not enough faders and not in production. MPD26 doesn’t have enough knobs either.

this lokks good to me, for the sample decks that is:

or this:

I use maschine myself for sample decks and general transport

that. and i was hoping for something smaller and rectangular rather than square (dont ask)
